I see you. I know you’re struggling to make this decision. I feel your stress.
You’ve made tons of lists and T-charts outlining the pros and cons of each path. You’ve asked everyone you know, including some whose advice you wouldn’t consider asking for anything else. You even flipped a coin to see what happens. And you’re still stuck.
Since you seem open to advice, here’s mine: STOP. Stop agonizing. Stop analyzing it to death. You already have enough information. You already know what you want to do.
Here’s the thing: this decision won’t put your life on an irreversible trajectory. You’re not doing anything you can’t change in the future. Will things change as a result of this decision? Of course. Maybe your life will change.
Is this the right thing to do? That depends on how you’re asking the question. It’s the right thing to do if it’s right for you.
This will not be the last decision you’ll ever make. It might not even be the last decision you make on this issue. (Spoiler alert: it won’t be.) And unless you’re ready for bed, it won’t be the last decision you make today. You’ll make plenty of decisions in your life. So, put this one behind you already.
I know you’re scared. I know you’re looking at trading something safe and comfortable for something unknown and scary. I know you’re doubting yourself. Again, STOP. You’ve got this. I’ve seen you do so many great things with your life. And you’re going to be great with this too. No matter the outcome of this one decision, you’ll be just fine. More than that – you’ll be better and stronger than you were.
What if you make the decision and it turns out to be a mistake? Maybe it won’t turn out the way you envisioned. That’s not a mistake. And if it is a mistake? Then it is. Do you think this is the first – or last – mistake you’ll ever make? It’s not fatal. In fact, it’s a chance to learn and grow. Besides, you can always make another decision.
So, take a deep breath and decide. And once you do, don’t look back. Go all in. Be unstoppable. Don’t worry about what others will think, because they don’t have to live your life. You do.
You’ve got this. And I’m so excited for you.
